KÖMMERLING has access to a wide range of key technologies in the area of functional organic materials for joining, sealing and insulation technology. The properties of our products are clearly in tune with customer requirements regarding production technology and product design.
In the area of sealing, the focus is on bonding components with a view to making them impermeable to humidity, water, gases or chemicals. This is achieved by giving the sealants suitable physical properties, and by creating a bond on the surfaces of the components. Such products also allow components to move relative to one another.
Adhesion is a bonding technology, meaning that the most important function of adhesives is the transferral of forces between the bonded materials. Adhesives may be expected to meet quite different requirements depending on the objectives concerned. Flexible adhesives from our Körapur, Körapop and Ködiglaze product groups reduce the load on substrates thanks to their rubber-like properties that prevent peaks of stress.
Structural adhesives from the Körapur, Körapox and Ködistruct groups make it possible to achieve a high degree of rigidity, and permit the transfer of large forces over small areas.
In other applications, the foremost requirement is for rigidity to develop extremely quickly in order to avoid the need for fixing aids, and to allow fast production cycles. In addition to the Köramelt range, which is made up of thermoplastic and reactive systems, solvent-based Köraplast adhesives, Köracoll dispersions and reactive flexible systems from the Körapop range can also be used to meet such requirements.
Adhesives should generally only have a minor effect on substrates. Solvent bonding adhesives Köratac HF and DF, as well as the Köratan UK product range, make specific use of substrate properties in order to achieve extremely strong bonds between the joined parts and the adhesive.
When it comes to soundproofing and strengthening materials, KÖMMERLING offers Ködiphone, Ködiguard and Köratac product ranges for a wide variety of applications. What all these products have in common is that they greatly improve sound absorption in the semi-finished products made with them, and thus play a key role in increasing living or driving comfort.
